We had a fabulous 4 night stay over Christmas at this wonderful hotel situated right in the heart of York City, adjacent to the River Ouse and Bridge Street crossing the river into the city centre. It has a small underground car park (£18 per night, pre-booking is essential). The hotel is very clean, appears to have been recently refurbished. Our room was a Superior Double with River View which was excellent, very comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. The bathroom was dated but okay to use. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, we had the cooked breakfast every morning which was delicious and plentiful. The bar area overlooked the river and city centre, plenty of seating although the bar could have been better stocked, especially with spirits – short on choice and quantity.

We ended up in this hotel at the very last moment because the hotel we had booked offered us a suffocating room at the basement, awful even if you are not claustrophobic (it's Judges Court in case you are interested). So we had to take whatever was available. We found The Queen's was available and called them to be sure. They said there was a room available for our dates and even advised us to book it on booking.com because we would find it cheaper there! The room was very spacious, on the 3rd floor, clean and super convenient. The location is great (I guess even better if you get a room looking at the river) and the staff super helpful and nice. Would definitely come back!

Great location. Staff welcoming. We had a nice room.I love that the windows open as I hate air conditioning. Great to have a bath as I walk a lot and like a relaxing bath after. Room temperature was fine. Pleased that the menu changed daily so we ate in the restaurant all three nights. Also I requested natural yogurt at breakfast and it wasn't a problem. Liked the book swap cupboard. Nice idea. The lounge overlooking the River was a lovely place to sit and relax.

Spacious room and comfortable bed. Its great to have the option of either a bath or shower, and the water pressure is really good for either. There is a good selection of food at breakfast too served buffet style. The food could be a little hotter but that's a personal preference. The coffee at breakfast is good too. It's filter coffee and a good strength which I like as I like my black coffee quite strong. In the evening the hotel bar has a nice view over the river.

We liked the location, the parking, which was charged, but a lot cheaper than other city centre hotels. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the hotel and rooms clean, I found the bed and pillows were comfy. They provide a very good breakfast and the evening meal ,we had on the night we ate in, was really good. There's a nice little bar and a lounge looking over the river, very nice outlook. All in all a really pleasant stay.
